Diagnosis

When a doctor checks for wrinkles, they look at the skin to see the lines and creases and try to figure out what caused them.
They also ask about your medical history and what is most important to you. This helps the doctor decide which treatments might be best for you based on what you want, how much side effects you can handle, and how long you’re willing to wait for results.

Treatment

There are several ways to treat wrinkles that can help make them less noticeable.
Your doctor may suggest using more than one treatment for the best effect.

Prescription Creams And Serums

Your doctor might prescribe a special anti-wrinkle cream or serum that has retinoids, which are a type of vitamin A. These products are meant to reduce fine lines and dark spots. It might take a few weeks or months before you start to see improvement. Examples include tretinoin (Renova, Retin-A), tazarotene (Avage, Tazorac), and adapalene (Differin). Differin is now available without a prescription. Retinoids can cause a rash, burning, or dryness. You should not use retinoids during pregnancy.

Using retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to the sun, so you might be told to use the product at night.
If you use it during the day, you should also apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat can also help protect your skin.

Botox Injections

Botox is injected in small amounts into certain muscles to prevent them from moving. This can make the skin look smoother. Botox works well for frown lines between the eyebrows, across the forehead, and for crow’s feet. You might start to see results in up to seven days. The effect usually lasts a few months. To keep the results, you may need to get repeat injections.

Possible side effects include a headache, droopy eyelids, and pain, swelling, or bruising where the injection was given.

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a treatment you can get as an outpatient. Usually, you don’t need numbing, but for deeper wrinkle treatment Singapore, you might be given medicine to make you feel drowsy. A member of your healthcare team then applies a chemical solution to your skin to remove the top layers. The new skin that grows back is smoother. Depending on how deep the peel is, you may need multiple treatments before you start to see a change in your skin.

Possible side effects include scarring, infection, and changes in the color of the skin in the treated area.
People with brown or Black skin have a higher risk of long-term changes in skin color.
